Most people wake up in the morning and drag themselves out of bed. They grumble at the mere thought of starting a new day. Lazily, they get dressed when they would prefer a few extra moments in bed. This happens for one simple reason: we don’t really like reality as it is: a place full of problems and responsibilities. No wonder people would rather stay in bed and continue to sleep.Posted by Administrator
On the one hand, sleeping (and dreaming) can be compared to heaven: an ideal world where everything works the way we want. On the other, reality with all its issues and duties. Since we have to live in the real world, it is advisable to cope with it, rather than trying to run away from our problems. I am highlighting this because too many react by creating alternative worlds such as Second life. Unfortunately, trying to escape reality (and people) is not the key. Rather, you prove yourself not to be strong enough to face issues when they arise. The outcome: many feels victimized, and play the victim all the time. How? By continuously blaming and complaining about how unfair life is.
Usually, it is the challenges (not the short-cuts) which make a person stronger and wiser. It is harsh situations to make one a fighter, rather than a victim. Only by facing problems head-on you are able to become the greatest version of yourself. Meanwhile, when remaining in your comfort zone, there is little chance for growth. And when there is no internal growth, this is when life gets really dull, and monotonous to the point of being almost unbearable. When you feel so bored at weekends, and have a sense of constant tiredness (despite having just woken up), have you ever asked yourself why? The answer is that boredom and a sense of disorientation are almost as tiring as a hard day’s work.
Psychologically speaking, a person wants to feel useful in some ways. Be it on a team, in a family, in a job, in society, you name it. Having the impression his or her actions matter, counts towards their overall well-being. When working hard for something or someone, one would understandably expect some sort of compliment in return. Be it in the form of a nice word, a genuine smile, a pat on the shoulder, the feeling one gets is almost impossible to describe. After all, we are social animals made up of feelings and emotions, and this trait makes us unique compared to machines.
Now, to get back to the main topic, do you have a purpose when getting up?
If your answer is: I get up because I ‘have to’, in this case, you should re-define your purpose. In fact, for those who do have a clear purpose (or mission, if you want), waking up is an enjoyable feeling: one more occasion to get closer to their personal mission (previously defined). According to studies, unfortunately, many individuals don’t have a defined one. This is why they are lethargic in the mornings, and unhappy about starting the day. They don’t have a clear objective where to direct their energies, and thoughts (by this, I don’t necessarily mean earning enough money to pay your bills. Rather, the reason you think you were born). Like for hobbies in the other article, a purpose has its importance, if not more. The only difference is that a ‘purpose’ is much greater when compared to simple pastimes. In fact, the main distinction is that,
A purpose is the reason you think you exist.
If you have never thought about this, or have never given it too much thought, it is never too late to start. For example, my purpose is to dedicate my life to motivation. Inspiring myself and others. Giving before receiving. If you ask me, there is nothing more fulfilling than motivating others by giving out valuable advice, and receiving words of gratitude and success in return. This pushes me to keep sharing ideas on a constant basis with those who have had enough of their dull routines, and want to take back control of their lives.
Now, as regards your mission, if you still don’t know which one is yours, next time you have some free time, sit down in a quiet place, away from people and your distracting phone. Take out a piece of paper, a pen and write down all the things you love and are passionate about. It can be writing (like in my case), becoming an expert at something, learning a language, etc. This is very subjective. Everyone will have their own definition of their mission and success. All the same, the whole point is that you know what I mean, and just get it done and sorted. How? By making your own list. Then, revise it, and make all the necessary corrections as you go. By continuing to tweak it, you will finally be satisfied with the outcome.
Once you are done with your work, take a moment to compliment yourself. Hardly anyone writes down their personal goals. Fantasy and thoughts are usually the preferred means. The only downside is that we have thousands of passing thoughts a day, coming and going non-stop. As a result, if you don’t freeze them by getting them down, nothing will come of your ideas, however great they may be. Then, once you have written everything down, read it aloud several times. You must believe what you have written. Otherwise, this exercise is of no use . If your list answers the question of why you think you exist, it is complete. If not, try again and edit your written thoughts until you get it right. If you still feel lost, a tip I always give is that your purpose should be something you would do no matter the time, or how busy you are. Because,
If it is your purpose, you will always find the time for it. Be sure about it.
Start today to seriously think about your life’s purpose, if you have never done it before. Once you have a clear one, in time your happiness will enhance substantially. You will finally have a reason to get up wholeheartedly in the morning (weekends included) and complaining will be a distant memory. After all, making it thorough the day, week, or month is not living, but rather surviving. And I am a firm believer that life should be lived in full, like we used to do a long time ago in our childhoods.
